Blended schools support

Spòrs Gàidhlig stands ready to support schools and pupils with the blended school model following the changes caused by COVID-19.

We can support schools with outdoors learning, activities and other learning models both in Gaelic and English. We will travel to each school, subject to government guidance, and will be able to take groups of learners into environments where their learning is promoted and enhanced.

Using Spòrs Gàidhlig means that social contact is maintained, albeit at a socially distant level, and learning can continue through our activities. This can also be combined with online learning.

This picture is was taken prior to COVID-19 restrictions.

Whilst some pupils remain in class in school, enabling social distancing through lower numbers, Spòrs Gàidhlig can take another section of a class on an outdoors learning adventure. After each session, the groups can be swapped and the classroom-based group can take part in their outdoor session with Spòrs Gàidhlig. For example, a class of can be split into groups based from the school, outdoors with Spòrs Gàidhlig and online learners. This enables the teacher to concentrate on classroom-based learning and removes some of the need to prepare online content.

A full list of activities is available below.

Safety and COVID-19

As always, safety and the well being of our participants is at the heart of our activities. We are licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority and have a robust safety management system.

Our COVID-19 preparations revolve around providing outdoor opportunities where transmission is much less likely. We are also reducing the numbers we have on each activity so that social distancing is easier to maintain.
