Bidh dleastanas aig gach neach iad fhèin a ghiùlan ann an dòigh èifeachdach agus airson ghnìomhan a leithid còcaireachd agus cur an-àirde teanta a dhèanamh dhaibh fhèin\, mar phàirt de sgioba agus fo stiùir iùilichean Spòrs Gàidhlig. \nA thuilleadh air a sin\, bidh uallach air gach com-pàirtiche oidhirp a dhèanamh gus àrainneachd Ghàidhlig a chumail an-àirde. ‘S ann air na tursan mòra\, diana seo a chì sinn an t-adhartas agus misneachadh as motha a thaobh Gàidhlig\, ach cha tig sin mura bi a’ bhuidheann gu lèir deònach a’ Ghàidhlig a bhruidhinn. \nFosgailte gu S3-6. \n \nJoin us on Spòrs Gàidhlig’s big summer mountain challenge 2024! \nOver five days\, between 29th July and 2nd August 2024 we will embark on an epic journey through the mountains\, and glens of the Highlands. We will learn mountain skills and build confidence by undertaking a real challenge as part of a group. We will wild camp for four nights and move through the mountainous environment carrying everything we need to be self-sufficient. High summits will be reached and we will get magnificent views of the Highland landscape only seen by those willing to put in a special effort. \nThe group will meet in Inverness on Monday 29th July. We will prepare equipment\, pack our bags and depart in Spòrs Gàidhlig’s minibus to the start of our expedition. We will then spend 4 days on a spectacular mountain walking and camping adventure. On Friday 2nd August we will be met in the morning by the Spòrs Gàidhlig bus and go for lunch in a local restaurant before returning to Inverness in the afternoon to travel home. \nWe have deliberately left the exact route and area we will be aiming for open until just before the trip. This will give us maximum flexibility and allow us to chase good weather to give the group the absolute best experience of the Scottish mountains possible. The trip will happen within the Highland Council area\, and with favourable conditions we will aim to journey into a remote area such as is found in Knoydart\, Kintail\, Wester Ross or Assynt.  \nThis trip for competent young people will offer great  opportunities for personal development. Each individual will have a responsibility to work effectively as part of the team and carry out tasks like cooking camp meals and putting up their tents under the guidance of Spòrs Gàidhlig’s instructors. \n \nGàidhlig \nThis is a trip for fluent Gaelic speakers. It is on multi-day trips such as these that we see the greatest impact with regards to participants’ confidence in using Gaelic socially\, and their esteem for the language. We aim to create a fully-immersive Gaelic environment\, which requires the involvement of the entire party to succeed. Every participant must understand therefore that they have a reponsibility to uphold this environment and make every effort to use Gaelic. \nHow difficult will the trip be? \nThis trip is suitable for active individuals in S3-6 who are prepared for a challenge in the outdoors. \nParticipants should expect to be tired at the end of each day. A multi-day journey like this requires concerted effort to complete\, both while travelling and in evening tasks relating to setting up camp\, preparing food and dealing with inclement weather. We will be moving in mountainous terrain while carrying everything we need to look after ourselves\, including sleeping bags\, tents and stoves. \nWe will aim to reach Munro summits\, and the days will include significant elevation gain as weather allows. \nThe committing and challenging nature of this expedition means that it is not suitable for those who do not have a genuine interest in the activity. We would ask that participants understand the challenges that will be involved and\, simply put\, actually want to be there. \nWhat safety precautions do you take? \nSpòrs Gàidhlig’s instructors are highly experienced and are formally qualified to the appropriate level to be delivering these activities. In this case\, they hold the Summer Mountain Leader award and a valid outdoor first aid certificate. \nEach instructor carries a first-aid kit\, and where appropriate\, a walkie talkie/radio for communication within the group. They will also have a mobile phone which can be used where coverage allows. \nTrips are flexible. Routes can be amended to adapt to Scotland’s highly changeable weather and instructors’ judgement of the group’s capabilities. The priority is always getting everyone back safely\, even if that means not fulfilling an objective. If this happens\, it is often a more valuable learning experience than an easy success! \n \nWill you explain how equipment is used? \nBoth for safety and participants’ enjoyment of the trip\, full briefings will be given on all equipment. Spòrs Gàidhlig’s instructors will ensure that everyone knows how to safely use their stove\, and use of these will be monitored. Help will be provided with setting up tents where this is required\, and throughout the trip participants will learn how to effectively look after themselves in mountainous environments. \nWhat equipment do you provide? \n\nDry bags\nTent\nSleeping bag\nBasic roll-up camping mat\nCamping stoves and fuel\nFood for 3 meals each day. (Participants should bring any additional snacks they might want)\n\nA full kit list will be provided upon signing up to the trip. \nAn online briefing meeting will be arranged for participants and parents approximately 3 weeks before the trip takes place. \nOpen to Gaelic-speaking teenagers who will be in S3-S6 after the summer holidays. \n* The Highland Council Gaelic Team have provided funding to subsidise 9 places on this trip exclusively for young people from within the Highland Council area. These will be allocated on a first come\, first serve basis. * \nSpòrs Gàidhlig reserves the right to refuse a place on this trip to anyone they do not feel meets the required level of skill\, fitness or commitment to maintaining the Gaelic environment within the group. \nThis trip would qualify as a suitable practice expedition for the Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

SUMMARY:Campa Sradagan (1) 2024 - Fairburn\, £330
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nTha CnaG a’ dol a chumail dà champa Sradagan ann an 2024. Às dèidh dhuinn fios fhaighinn air cho mòr ’s a chòrd Ionad Fairburn an uiridh ri òigridh agus luchd-obrach\, tha sinn gu bhith a’ tilleadh ann airson dàrna bliadhna! Tha Ionad Chur-Seachadan Fairburn faisg air Inbhir Pheotharain\, agus mu 20 mìle tuath air Inbhir Nis. Mar às àbhaist bidh am prògram againn làn de spòrs ‘s fealla-dha! Thigeabh còmhla rinn! \n‘S e cothrom air leth a tha seo eòlas a chur air clann eile aig a bheil Gàidhlig ann an suidheachadh spòrsail agus comhurtail. Thèid barrachd fios mun phrògram fhoillseachadh rè ùine\, ach faodaidh sibh a bhith cìnnteach gum bith e ìnntinneach is tarruingeach – agus air fad tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig – a’ toirt cothrom dhan chlann an cuid Gàidhlig a chleachdadh taobh a-muigh na sgoile. \nTha na campaichean seo fosgailte do chloinn 8+ gu 12 agus a tha ann am foghlam Gàidhlig. Feumaidh gach com-pàirtiche a bhith sa bhun-sgoil no dìreach às dèidh na bun-sgoile fhàgail.  \nCosgaidh an campa £330 uile gu lèir\, ach chan eil a dhìth oirnn an toiseach ach £100 airson àite a ghlèidheadh air a’ champa. Bidh an còrr\, £230\, ri phàigheadh aig toiseach an t-Ògmhios. B’fheudar do Fairburn £43 gach pàiste a chur ri prìs a’ champa am bliadhna. Gus pàrantan a chuideachadh\, chan eil CnaG ach air £30 a chur ri prìs slàn a’ champa.  \nTha an cosgais seo a’ gabhail a-steach biadh\, àite-fuirich agus gach cur-seachad air a’ phrògram. Bidh sinn a’ sùileachadh gun toir pàrantan an cuid cloinne chun champ agus a thighinn dhan togail aig deireadh na seachdain – ach ma tha ceistean na dùbhlain agaibh a thaobh siubhal leig fios dhuinn. Mathaid gum bith cothrom aig pàrantan obrachadh còmhla airson an uallach seo a roinn eatorra.\nCnaG will be running two Sradagan Camps in 2024. Following very positive feedback from young people and staff in 2023 about the Fairburn Activity Centre\, we’ll be returning there for a second year! The Fairburn Activity Centre is near Dingwall\, and about 20 miles north of Inverness. As always we’ll have a fun-packed and exciting programme! Come and join us! \nCampa Sradagan are popular and well-established Gaelic-medium events allowing young Gaelic speakers or learners to meet new friends. Full details of the programme will be available in due course\, but you can be sure it will be interesting and engaging – and completely through the medium of Gaelic – giving the children a chance to use their Gaelic outside the classroom. \nThese camps are open to young people aged 8-12 and who are currently in\, or have just left\, GME at primary level. \nThe camp will cost a total of £330\, but we will only require an initial deposit of £100 to book a place. The balance\, £230 will be due at the beginning of June. Due to their increased costs\, Fairburn has increased the price per child by £43 this year – however CnaG has only raised the total price camp by £30 in order to assist parents as much as possible. \nThis price includes accommodation\, food and all the programme activities. We will expect parents to bring their children too the camp\, and to collect them at the end of the week – but please speak to us if you have any questions about travel – there may be opportunities to work with other parents to share this responsibility.

SUMMARY:Sùilebheinn
DESCRIPTION:Thigibh còmhla rinn air turas mòr Spòrs Gàidhlig ann an 2023: Siubhail nan loch ann an Asainte gus a’ bheinn ainmeil Sùilebheinn a ruighinn agus a dhìreadh. \nAir an turas iongantach seo\, thèid sinn gu cridhe sgìre cho bòidheach agus tarraingeach ’s a tha an Alba gu lèir\, agus cleachdaidh sinn diofar mhodhan siubhail gus ceann-uidhe sònraichte a choileanadh mar sgioba. Tòisichidh an turas air bòrd-seasaimh air Loch Mheathadaidh\, a bheir a-steach gu mòinteach fàsail Asainte sinn. Bidh gach neach a’ giùlan na h-uidheamachd aca air a’ bhòrd agus nuair a ruigeas sinn ceann an iar an locha cuiridh sinn campa air dòigh. \n \nAn ath-latha\, bidh sinn air a’ bheinn. Fàgaidh sinn ar campa agus nì sinn air Sùilebheinn. Dìridh sinn slios a deas na beinne agus bidh spòrs air leth an lùib coiseachd air an druim eireachdail a bheir gu mullach Chaisteil Liath sinn. Ma bhios an aimsir againn\, gheibh sinn seallaidhean iongantach de cheann a tuath na h-Alba agus na h-Eileanan Siar às a seo. Tillidh sinn chun a’ champa air an fheasgar. \nLeanaidh sinn oirnn làrna-màireach le briseadh campa agus an spòrs mòr a bhios an lùib slaodadh nam bòrd thar na mòintich gu loch eile: Loch Sionascaig. Thèid sinn air an uisge an sin agus eadar eileanan beaga bòidheach chun an rathaid sa cheann an iar faisg air Inbhir Pollaidh. (Ma bhios gaoth mì-iomchaidh ann airson seo\, tillidh sinn an rathad a thàinig sinn air Loch Mheathadaidh.) An oidhche sin\, bidh sinn air beagan comhurtachd a chosnadh\, agus fuirichidh sinn ann an ostail a’ Chèilidh Place\, far an gabh sinn dìnnear mhòr còmhla. \nSeo agaibh mapa den t-slighe: \n \nBheir an turas a tha seo cothrom air leth air fèin-leasachadh don òigridh a bhios an sàs. Bidh dleastanas aig gach neach iad fhèin a ghiùlan ann an dòigh èifeachdach agus gnìomhan a leithid còcaireachd agus cur an-àirde teanta a dhèanamh dhaibh fhèin\, mar phàirt de sgioba agus fo stiùir iùilichean Spòrs Gàidhlig. A thuilleadh air a sin\, bidh uallach air gach com-pàirtiche oidhirp a dhèanamh gus àrainneachd Ghàidhlig a chumail an-àirde. ‘S ann air a tursan mòra\, diana seo a chì sinn an t-adhartas agus misneachadh as motha a thaobh Gàidhlig\, ach cha tig sin mura bi a’ bhuidheann gu lèir deònach a’ Ghàidhlig a bhruidhinn. \nFosgailte gu S2-6. \n_________________________________________________________________________ \nSuilven by Land and Water \nThis special trip will take us by land and water into the heart of one of Scotland’s most spectacular areas\, and to the summit of perhaps our most instantly recognisable mountain: Sùilebheinn in Assynt. \nThe trip will begin in Ullapool where the team will meet\, get to know each other and organise equipment. Accommodation on this evening will be in Ullapool\, and we will eat in a local restaurant (TBC). The following day we will travel in Spòrs Gàidhlig’s minibus to the village of Elphin. From there we will paddleboard the length of Loch Veyatie\, on the boundary between Sutherland and Ross Shire\, and camp at its western end. (7km) The following day will see us ascend Suilven from the South. The exact route taken will depend on conditions on the day and what the instructors feel is appropriate for the group\, but we will be able to explore the mountain’s spectacular ridge and highest peak\, Caisteal Liath. (10-14km) We will then descend and return to our camp. In the morning we will break camp and after a short paddle on Loch Veyatie\, make a portage and continue westwards via Loch Sionascaig to meet the minibus (9km). That evening we will return to Ullapool and enjoy a well-earnt dinner and a warm bed in the famous Cèilidh Place’s restaurant and bunkhouse. (Route map above) \nGàidhlig \nIt is on multi-day trips such as these that we see the greatest impact with regards to participants’ confidence in using Gaelic socially\, and their esteem for the language. We aim to create a fully-immersive Gaelic environment\, which requires the involvement of the entire party to succeed. Every participant must understand therefore that they have a reponsibility to uphold this environment and make every effort to use Gaelic. \nHow difficult will the trip be? \nThis trip is suitable for active individuals in S2-6 who are prepared for a challenge in the outdoors. \nParticipants should expect to be tired at the end of each day. A multi-day journey like this requires concerted effort to complete\, both when travelling on the water and in evening tasks relating to setting up camp\, preparing food and dealing with inclement weather. We will cover 7km by SUP on the first and third days\, and at least 10km with 600m of elevation gain by foot on the hill day.  \nParticipants will be required to carry their paddleboard and other equipment to the water and up to camp\, sometimes on uneven ground. This can be challenging\, especially for smaller individuals\, but is often a useful team-building excercise at the start of a trip. Help will always be on-hand for those who require it. \nThe committing nature of this expedition means that it is not suitable for those who do not have a genuine interest in the activity. We would ask that participants understand the challenges that will be involved and\, simply put\, actually want to be there. \nWhat safety precautions do you take? \nSpòrs Gàidhlig’s instructors are highly experienced and are formally qualified to the appropriate level to be delivering these activities. In this case\, they hold the globally-recognised ASI Level 2 SUP Instructor qualification\, Summer Mountain Leader award and a valid outdoor first aid certificate. \nWill you explain how equipment is used? \nBoth for safety and participants’ enjoyment of the trip\, full briefings will be given on all equipment. Correct use of the SUP paddle and equipment is essential\, and our instructors will provide continuous feedback and coaching on technique. They will also ensure that everyone knows how to use their stove\, and use of these will be monitored. Help will be provided with setting up tents where this is required. \nWhat equipment do you provide? \n\nThe SUP board and all associated accessories such as leash\, fin and paddle.\nWetsuit (Note\, we do NOT provide wetsuit boots\, neoprene socks or other footwear.)\nDry bags\nTent\nSleeping bag\nBasic roll-up camping mat\nCamping stoves and fuel\nFood for 3 meals each day. (Participants should bring any additional snacks they might want)\n\nA full kit list will be provided upon signing up to the trip. \nAn online briefing meeting will be arranged for participants and parents approximately 3 weeks before the trip takes place. \nTimetable: \n\n\n\nDay\nActivity\nAccommodation\n\n\nMonday 31/7\nMeet in Ullapool at lunchtime.\nCèilidh Place Bunkhouse\, Ullapool\n\n\nTuesday 1/8\nDepart Ullapool. SUMMARY:Campa Sradagan 2 - Fairburn
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nTha CnaG a’ dol a chumail dà champa Sradagan ann an 2023. Am bliadhna tha sinn gu bhith a’ dol a dh’àitigin ùr! Tha Ionad Chur-Seachadan Fairburn faisg air Inbhir Pheotharain\, agus mu 20 mìle tuath air Inbhir Nis. Àite ùr\, ach mar às àbhaist bidh am prògram againn làn de spòrs ‘s fealla-dha! Thigeabh còmhla rinn! \n‘S e cothrom air leth a tha seo eòlas a chur air clann eile aig a bheil Gàidhlig ann an suidheachadh spòrsail agus comhurtail. Thèid barrachd fios mun phrògram fhoillseachadh rè ùine\, ach faodaidh sibh a bhith cìnnteach gum bith e ìnntinneach is tarruingeach – agus air fad tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig – a’ toirt cothrom dhan chlann an cuid Gàidhlig a chleachdadh taobh a-muigh na sgoile. \nTha na campaichean seo fosgailte do chloinn 8+ gu 12 agus a tha ann am foghlam Gàidhlig. Feumaidh gach com-pàirtiche a bhith sa bhun-sgoil no dìreach às dèidh na bun-sgoile fhàgail.  \nCosgaidh a champa £300 uile gu lèir\, ach chan eil a dhìth oirnn an toiseach ach £100 airson àite a ghlèidheadh air a’ champa. Bidh an còrr\, £200\, ri phàigheadh aig toiseach an t-Ògmhios. \nTha an cosgais seo a’ gabhail a-steach biadh\, àite-fuirich agus gach cur-seachad air a’ phrògram. Bidh sinn a’ sùileachadh gun toir pàrantan an cuid cloinne chun champ agus a thighinn dhan togail aig deireadh na seachdain – ach ma tha ceistean na dùbhlain agaibh a thaobh siubhal leig fios dhuinn. Mathaid gum bith cothrom aig pàrantan obrachadh còmhla airson an uallach seo a roinn eatorra.\nCnaG is going to run two Sradagan Camps in 2023. This year using a new venue! The Fairburn Activity Centre is near Dingwall\, and about 20 miles north of Inverness. A new location\, but as always we’ll have a fun-packed and exciting programme! \nThe camp will cost a total of £300\, but we will only require an initial deposit of £100 to book a place. The balance\, £200 will be due at the beginning of June. \nThis price includes accommodation\, food and all the programme activities. We will expect parents to bring their children too the camp\, and to collect them at the end of the week – but please speak to us if you have any questions about travel – there may be opportunities to work with other parents to share this responsibility.

The route will give us some of Scotland’s finest views and opportunites to see wildlife including dophins\, propoises and eagles. \nHere we will stay in the JMCS Coruisk Memorial Hut\, a well-appointed bunkhouse\, which will provide the perfect base for the following day’s expedition onto the crest of the Cuillin Ridge. A spectacular walk will take us to the back of Loch Coir’ Uisge from where we will ascend the Coireachan Ruadha. The final push to Bealach na Banachdaich will be grueling but the rewards will be great! Once established on the ridge the final section of the walk will take us to the summit of Sgùrr na Banachdaich\, a munro and an incredible viewpoint. We will return by the same route\, and spend a second night in the JMCS Hut. \nOn the morning of the third day we will pack up at the hut and return by SUP to Elgol where we will debrief from the trip and sort equipment before bringing the trip to a close. \nFAQs \nHow difficult will the trip be? \nThis trip is suitable for active individuals who are prepared for a challenge in the outdoors.  Participants must be in S2 or above.  \nParticipants should expect to be tired at the end of each day. A multi-day journey like this requires concerted effort to complete\, both when travelling on the water and in evening tasks relating to setting up camp at the hut\, preparing food and dealing with inclement weather. We will cover 8km by SUP on the first and third days\, and at least 10km with 965m of elevation gain by foot on the mountain day. \nParticipants will be required to carry their paddleboard and other equipment to the water and up to camp\, sometimes on uneven ground. This can be challenging\, especially for smaller participants\, but is often a useful team-building excercise at the start of a trip. We are also licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority which is an agency of the Health and Safety Executive. We are also experienced in providing pastoral care and instructors are in loco-parentis when on a remote journey such as this. \nEach instructor carries a first-aid kit\, and where appropriate\, a walkie talkie/radio for communication within the group. They will also have a mobile phone which can be used where coverage allows. \nTrips are flexible. Routes can be amended to adapt to Scotland’s changeable weather and instructors’ judgement of the group’s capabilities. The priority is always getting everyone back safely\, even if that means not fulfilling an objective. If this happens\, it is often a more valuable learning experience than an easy success! \nWith this trip we are also able to use one of the boat companies which provide trips to Loch Coir’ Uisge and in the event of conditions preventing use of the paddleboards\, we will use one of these boats. \n \nAn t-àite-fuirich a bhios againn airson dà oidhche – bidh sinn a’ siubhal air bòrd-seasaimh. \nWill you explain how equipment is used? \nBoth for safety and participants’ enjoyment of the trip\, full briefings and instruction will be given on all equipment and the activity itself. \n\nThe SUP board and all associated accessories such as leash\, fin and paddle.\nWetsuit (Note\, we do NOT provide wetsuit boots\, neoprene socks or other footwear.)\nDry bags\nTent\nSleeping bag\nBasic roll-up camping mat\nCamping stove and fuel\nFood for 3 meals each day\n\nA full kit list will be provided prior to the trip.
